You must prepare the room for the return of Mary. What do you need to get ready in her room? Post-operative: Mary is received in PACU from OT. Vital signs are as follow: BP 110/50, pulse 65, temp 35.2°C, SaO2 90% on room air, after commencing 2L 02 vial nasal prongs 99%. Mary is drowsy and disorientated, complaining of severe pain, 9/10. Wound is dry no oozing. She is cold and shivering, sensation present, able to move toes. Mary is in PACU for 1 hour. She is waking up and is more alert and orientated. Vital signs: BP 120/70, pulse 72, temp 36, SaO295% on 2 L. She is still very cold and shivering. She has warm blankets on her with a bear hugger attached. PACU: At 13h20 you are called to collect Mary from PACU. Post op orders: Usual medication Endone 10 mg 4 hourly PRN Ceftriaxone 1 Gram 6 hourly x 4 doses Clexane 60mg SC BD May eat and drink 4 hours post op or when fully awake. Mobilize with physio tomorrow. X- ray of knee post op day 1 2 hourly obs for 4 hours, then 1 hourly for 4 hours, then 4 hourly if stable. Elevate legs as per policies and procedures IV Hardmans 6 hourly (+/- 300 ml) IV orders as per IV Chart. 2 Units of blood if Hb is under 10mmol. Why are the new medications prescribed?
