Someone tells you that they have a way to increase the speed ofbrute-forcing DES. Their idea is to try every other key (so let ussay, try every even key) and then look to see if each of theresults shares some statistical regularity to something that mightbe a possible plaintext. If they find some regularities using aparticular key, they then try the key's around that one.
Do you think this is likely to be worthy trying? If so, justifyit. If not, why not?
