The following data were obtained during a full-load test on a two-cylinder single-acting four-stroke Diesel-cycle engine: 11-in. bore by 15-in. stroke; average rpm, 385; length of Prony brake arm, 36 in.; net weight on scales (due to torque), 500 lb; total fuel used in 15-min run, 11.5 lb; heating value of fuel oil, 19,500 Btu per lb; mean effective pressure from indicator cards (average of each cylinder), 90 psi. Find (a) brake horsepower, (b) brake specific fuel consumption, (c) thermal efficiency, (d) indicated horsepower, (e) friction horsepower, and (f) mechanical efficiency.
