A roller chain is to transmit 20 hp from a split-phase motor,turning 570 rpm, to a reciprocating pump, turning at 200 rpm; 24hr./day service.
a) Decide upon the tooth numbers for the sprockets, the pitchand width of chain, and center distance. Consider both single andmultiple strands.
b) Compute (b) the chain length
c) the factor of safety against fatigue failure with the chainpull as the force on the chain.
