A material is tested in tension. The diameter of the specimen is 20 mm and the gauge length 1 metre. Determine the maximum permissible tensile load without appreciable plastic deformation. Determine also the strength coefficient (K) of the material. Use the following standard material properties : Young's modulus (E) =71 GPa, Yield strength (S) =305 MPa, Ultimate tensile strength (S) =478 MPa, Strain hardening exponent (n) =0.2. (At maximum load, the true strain (&) is equal to n)
