1A. Given the parent function f(x) = √x, write the function g(x) that results from the
following collection of transformations to f(x):
• reflect across the y-axis
• vertical compression by a factor of 3
• vertical shift downward by 4 units
• horizontal shift left by 1 unit
1B. Given the parent function f(x) = 1/x, write the function g(x) that results from the
following collection of transformations to f(x):
• reflect across the x-axis
• horizontal expansion (stretch) by a factor of 2
• vertical shift upward by 1 unit
• horizontal shift right by 5 units
