You will conduct a brief experiment that demonstrates the actionof emulsification. Read both the experiment instructions and thecorresponding questions carefully to ensure accurate results andfindings. Your responses should reflect your experiment findingsand the concepts found in the text. See the related chapteractivities for more information about lipid digestion. If you haveany questions, do not hesitate to ask. This brief experiment willhelp highlight the importance of the emulsification process duringdigestion. Read the instructions below then carefully answer thecorresponding questions. Please note that answers should relate tothe findings of your experiment and to the concepts in Chapter 5 ofthe text. Materials Needed: Small soft drink bottle Water Foodcoloring 2 tablespoons of cooking oil Dish washing liquid ordetergent Instructions: Part 1 Fill the soft drink bottle withwater until it is about 3/4ths full. Add a few drops of foodcoloring to the water. This will provide a contrast to the otherexperiment components. Pour about 2 tablespoons of cooking oil intothe small soft drink bottle. Screw the lid on tight and shake thebottle as hard as you can. Set the bottle on a hard surface andobserve. Complete Question 1 below. Question 1: Describe, indetail, the interaction between the water (stomach acid) and thecooking oil (dietary fat). Question 2: Allow the mixture to restfor about 5 minutes. Describe what you see. Have any changesoccurred since the initial shaking and now? Instructions: Part 2Add in 3-4 tablespoons of dish soap to the bottle. Screw the lid ontight and shake the bottle as hard as you can. Set the bottle on ahard surface and observe. Complete Questions 2 and 3 below.Question 3: Describe, in detail, the interaction between the water(stomach acid), cooking oil (dietary fat) and the dish soap (bile).Question 4: Allow the mixture to rest for about 5 minutes. Describewhat you see. Have any changes occurred? Question 4: Question 5:Using your book and the results of this experiment, summarize thedigestive process of lipids including the processes in the mouth, stomach, and small intestine, and explain the purpose andimportance of bile indigestion
