EXPIREMENT 7 - IRON DATA for FIA Students will report the grams of Iron in the analytical test sample given by their TA. The data set below is based on the FIAgram shown on page 42. Subtract the average peak height in analytical standard 0 from the average peak hits of the other standards. Calculate the iron molarity of the analytical standards based on the dilutions given below. Make a calibration plot of average peak height vs iron molarity of the analytical standards. Use the calibration plot and average peak height of the analytical test samples to determine the molarity and subsequently the mass of the iron. M.W. Fe = 55.845 *One mole Fe per mole standard* Mass of Standard: Iron (II) Ethylene Diammonium Sulfate 4 H₂O *F.W. is 382.14* Standard Preparation: Standard is dissolved in 100 mL to make a stock standard. 1 mL of the stock standard is diluted to 100 mL to make a working standard. 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 mL of the working standard are diluted to 10 mL to make the Analytical Standards 0-5 respectively. Sample Preparation: The sample is dissolved in 100 mL to make a stock sample. 1 mL of the stock sample is then diluted to 100 mL to make a working sample. 2 mL of the working sample is diluted to 10 mL to make the Analytical Test Sample. VA Absorbances: Sample Analytical Standard 0 Analytical Standard 1 Analytical Standard 2 Analytical Standard 3 Analytical Standard 4 Analytical Standard 5 Analytical Test Sample 0.5011 Average Peak Height (AU); N=5 0.1074 0.1799 0.2660 0.3549 0.4512 0.5387 0.3461
