What were the similarities and differences between religious and non-religious viewpoints about sex in Antebellum Americ
What were the similarities and differences between religious andnon-religious viewpoints about sex in Antebellum America? Inanswering this question, you might want to think about thefollowing: what was the purpose of sex in the eyes of variousAntebellum Americans? Was sex viewed as a positive thing amongstthe different viewpoints? How did the different viewpoints define"natural" in relation to sex and sexuality? What do the differentviewpoints on the masturbation scare indicate about the viewpoints? What do the various advertisements and excerpts from variouspapers/magazines tell us about sex and sexuality in this period?Thinking about these questions, even if you do not address them inyour paper, will help you answer your paper. Your paper mustinclude at least 6 primary source citations, include religious andnonreligious sources in your citations, and address at least two ofthe different viewpoints explicitly outlined in the source reader(i.e. you cannot make this solely about the similarities anddifferences between religious and nonreligious reformphysiologists). The introduction (pgs. 1-31) DOES NOT count towardsyour citation total because it is not a primary source.
