Imagine a 150 lb person that is given an 80 mg/kg dose of aspirin. Assume the half life is 0.25 hours, with first-order kinetics. How long will it take for the drug to be COMPLETELY eliminated? I'm not talking about having 0.000000000000000001 mg left, I'm talking 100% gone. You'll find that this is a much more complicated problem than it seems. Our equations aren't made for this. Do not tell me it's after 5 half-lives. That's a rule-of-thumb, not a mathematical reality.
I have been trying to get help with this answer thought that the answer would either be 5t1/2= 1.25 or that it would never be completely eliminated. however both of these answers are incorrect. could someone please explain in detail how to solve this?
