Scenario 2 An 83-year old frail woman comes to her doctor's appointment alone. She is experiencing severe chest pain. While interviewing her, she asks that someone contact her son who lives with her. She doesn't know where he is nor does she know how to contact him. You learn that the patient lives only with her son in ar apartment. During the physical exam, you notice bruising on her right inner thigh. Scenario 3 You are an OB nurse, and 15-year-old Melissa comes in for her first appointment. To help her feel less nervous, you chat about things going on at school, but she seems distracted and isn't following your conversation. When you ask about her weekend plans, she tells you that she is supposed to stay with her grandparents over the weekend while her parents are out of town and she doesn't want to go. Although she is clearly uncomfortable, she finally discloses that the last time she visited, her grandfather took her down to the basement, rubbed her between her legs, then put his hand on her chest over her breasts and told her she was pretty "just like ſherl mom". She doesn't want her parents to know, but she just can't go stay with her grandparents. She doesn't want you to tell anyone.
