Atlas-Air, a refrigeration, heating, and air-conditioning company located in Honeydew, Johannesburg, is specialised in the supply, fitment, innovation and maintenance of air-conditioning, refrigeration, and domestic heat pump systems. Currently the company's staff is overloaded with design work and company operates 7 days a week. There is a major design project due 8 weeks. The penalty for completing the design late is R1500.00 per day since any delay will cause the facility to open later than anticipated and cost the client significant revenue. If the company uses its inside engineers to complete the design, it will have to pay them overtime for all work. Atlas-Air has estimated that it will cost R2000.00 per day (wages and overhead), including weeks, to have company engineers complete the design. Atlas-Air is also considering having an outside engineering firm do the design. A bid of R98,000 has been received for the completed design. Yet another option for completing the design is to conduct a joint design by having a third engineering company complete all electromechanical components of the design at a cost of R70,000. Atlas-Air would then complete the rest of the design and control systems at an estimated cost of R40,000. Atlas-Air has estimated the following probabilities of completing the project within various time frames when using each of three options. Those estimates are shown in the following table: Probability of Completing the Design Option On time 1 week late 2 weeks late 3 weeks late Internal Engineers 0.4 10.5 10.1 External Engineers 0.2 10.4 10.3 10.1 Joint Design 10.1 10.3 10.4 0.2 What is the EMV for the internal engineers?
