If there was an investigatoin of the importance of firsttrimester glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels inpregnant ladies and their association with risk of developinggestational diabetes. Diagnosisof gestational diabetes was made on the bases of a 75goral glucose tolerance test performed between 24 and 28 weeks ofgestation. Using existing medical records from the departmentof obstetrics and gynecology to recreate follow up,investigators compared the proportion of womenwho later developed gestational diabetes according totheir first trimester HbA1c values. Conclusion: Womenwith elevated first trimester HbA1c levels were morelikely to develop gestational diabetes.
