Please label and indicate your steps the way they are listed below and show your work for each step: Step #1: State the null and alternative hypothesis using the appropriate notation (Ha and Ho statements) and state what the hypothesis is verbally as well Step #2: Indicate the default criterion probability which is an alpha level of .05 Step #3: Set up your Summary Table of the Two-Way ANOVA (you will fill the appropriate numbers as you compute various formulas) . . . Step #4: Since this is an experimental design, indicate 1) The independent variables in the study 2) How many conditions (or levels) there are of the independent variable-indicate what "k" is for factor A and factor B and 3) The dependent variable . . Step #5: Since the descriptive data has been provided for you in the table (table 14.5), your first step will be to compute the total sum of squares (SStot) Step #6: Compute the sum of squares between groups (SSbn) for factor A Step #7: Compute the sum of squares between groups (SSbn) for factor B Step #8: Compute the sum of squares between groups for the interaction (you will need to compute the total sum of squares between groups-SSbn). Step #9: Compute the sum of squares within groups (SSwn). Don't forget to fill in your summary table for the data you obtained for steps 6-9. Steps 10-14: Compute the degrees of freedom between groups for 1) Factor A, 2) For factor B, 3) For the interaction, 3) The degrees of freedom within groups, and 4) The degrees of freedom total . . Step #15 Fill in your "Summary Table" with all of the information you have computed and gathered so far (your Sum of Squares and df calculations should be notated on your table-you will only have to compute the Mean Squares and F calculations).
. • . . . . Step #16: Compute your Mean Square Between Groups for factor A Step #17: Compute your Mean Square Between Groups for factor B Step #18: Compute your Mean Square Between Groups for the interaction Step #19: Compute your Mean Square Within Groups Step #20-22: Finally, you will compute the F's, including 1) FA for the main effect of Factor A, • 2) FB for the main effect of factor B, and the 3) FAXB for the interaction effect Step #23: Complete the summary table by inputting your calculations for the Mean Square and F calculations you obtained in steps 16-22 Step #24: (Interpreting each "F"). Compare the F-obtained (F obt) value to the F critical value (F crit) for factor A, factor B, and for the interaction. If your F obt is greater than or equal to your F crit value, then the sample is in the region of rejection. If the F obt is less than or equal to the F crit value, then the sample is not in the region of rejection. For each F value you have obtained, write a brief statement comparing the F obt to the F crit value and state whether the obtained values are in the region of rejection or not. Step #25: (Interpreting the results): Now that you have computed your results, you can make a statistical inference about your sample means assessing whether there were main effects and/or interactions. Were there any main effects or interactions? Why or why not? Explain your answer and discuss what this means in terms of Volume, Gender and Persuasiveness.
