SOLVE 1) A solid cylinder rotates around its axis with an angular velocity of 600 rpm. Its mass is 1 kg and its radius is 5 cm. A constant braking force of 0.1 kp is applied tangentially. Determine: a) Braking angular acceleration. b) Time it takes to stop. c) Number of laps it makes until it stops. 2) A wheel has a moment of inertia of 10 kg - m2 and rotates at a rate of 40 rpm. A constant tangential force is applied to it and it stops in 30 s. Determine: a) The value of the moment of the applied force. b) Angular acceleration of braking. c) Number of turns the wheel makes from when the force is applied until it stops. 3) A uniform cylinder of mass m = 8.0 kg and radius R = 1.3 cm (see figure) begins to descend at a time t = 0 due to gravity. Neglecting the mass of the string, find: a) The tension of each thread and the angular acceleration of the cylinder, b) The temporal dependence of the instantaneous power developed by the gravitational force.
