Question 5 a) An open-loop system is represented by the following first order transfer function: A closed-loop control system is introduced containing a proportional control gain with a value of 2. Assume negative unity feedback, i.e., an ideal sensor. Based on the above, determine the following closed- loop control system properties: i. Pole, gain and time constant ii. Based on part i., sketch the system response when a unit step input is used to model the reference (10 marks) b) A closed-loop control system transfer function is given by: 3 i. A unit step input is used to model the reference, where initially the proportional control gain value takes a value of 1. By obtaining the inverse Laplace transform of , find an expression for the response in the time domain, i.e., obtain. You may assume without verification that the partial fraction representation when considering the unit step input is as follows: ii. For the closed loop control system with a proportional control gain of 10, determine the final value of the system output. Compare the system output to the reference and comment on the steady state error (SSE). (15 marks) [Total: 25 Marks]
