Betty is 28 years old and thinking about starting a family whenshe learns that her 48-year-old mother has Alzheimer disease. The mother's physician tells Betty that because of the early onset,the Alzheimer disease could be inherited through a susceptibilitygene. Betty and her husband Bart go and see a geneticcounselor who recommends genetic testing.
