C. Consider the formation and flow of CSF to complete the following: CSF forms from specialized blood capillaries found in the brain called 1. The liquid portion of the blood oozes out from the spaces in capillary walls and is then known as CSF. Each cerebral hemisphere (side) has a cavity referred to as the 2. From these cavities, the CSF moves through a hole called the 3 into another cavity called the 4, which is found along the mid-sagittal line. More fluid is added here. From this cavity the CSF moves through a "tunnel" called the 5 into the final cavity called the 6 where still more fluid is added. From there it moves through the 7 space at the back of the brain and spinal cord. It moves up the 8 surface of the brain and cord, and is eventually reabsorbed by the 9 of the brain. 1. Cerebrospinal fluid 2. Brain Barrier System 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. D. A brain hemorrhage within the right region of the brain results in paralysis of the left side of the body. Why is the left side affected and not the right side? E. Why is trauma to the base of the brain often much more dangerous than trauma to the frontal lobe. (Think about the functions of the cerebral hemispheres and the brain stem structures.)
