The discovery of the DNA Double Helix opened the way for extraordinary development of all biological sciences, including Molecular Genetics. Things that were impossible in the past suddenly became reality. Scientist can take a gene from one bacterium and expressed it in another. They can take genes from Saccharomyces cerevisiae and expressed them in E. coli. Gene found in jellyfish was expressed in variety of organisms and the GFP made them glow green. Latter many other fluorescent proteins were developed that revolutionized biology [1]. It became possible to take the gene for human growth hormone, expressed it in E. coli and purify biologically active hormone [2]. It seams like the applications are limitless. However, as Dr. Sheldon Cooper would say: "Just remember, with great power comes great responsibility" [3]. Please look for examples of application of these novel Molecular Biology and Genetics tools that were used to advance science, to provide treatment, to produce an important product, or to cure a disease. There is a zillion of examples for good use of these tools and some examples of not-so-good applications, for instance "babies by design" [4].
