A spectrophotometer measures the concentration of a sampledissolved in water by shining a light through it and recording theamount of light that emerges. In other words, if we know the amountof light absorbed, we can calculate the concentration of thesample. For a certain substance, the concentration (in moles perliter, mol/L) is found using the formula
C = −3000 ln(I/I^0)
where I0 is the intensity of theincident light and I is the intensity of lightthat emerges. Find the concentration of the substance if theintensity I is 20%of I0. (Round your answer to two decimalplaces.)
