The roller coaster shown contains a loop-the- loop in which the car and rider are completely upside down, moving in a vertical circular path. The radius of the loop is 15.0 m and the mass of one car plus passenger is 275 kg. When the ride passes the top of the loop, the normal force on the rider is 5 times her own weight, however, when passing through the bottom of the loop, the normal force on her body is only 2.5 times her own weight. (a) On the diagram shown below, sketch a clearly labeled free body diagram of the car at both the top and bottom of the ride. F (b) Calculate the speed of the car at the top of the ride. (c) Calculate the speed of the car at the bottom of the ride. Ground (d) Suppose the rider is not restrained in this roller coaster car. Calculate the minimum speed the car must have at the top of the loop so that the rider does not fall out while upside down at the top.
