The fitness technology industry is one of the fastest growing industries in America. Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, fitness technology was transforming the way we move and the ways we measure movement. Millions of Americans purchase wearable activity trackers with the hopes of becoming healthier and more fit. Some researchers argue that wearable activity trackers (like Apple Watches, FitBits, etc...) do NOT provide motivation. These researchers believe that activity trackers are simply sources of FEEDBACK about certain health and physical activity behaviors, like sleeping and walking Trackers can measure activity patterns, but can they also serve as the reason WHY we engage in physical activity??
