ASSIGNMENT FOUR (a) Discuss the major changes that the Employment Code Act, No. 3 of 2019 has introduced to legislation that regulates employment in Zambia and their implications on both the employers and employees. (b) What are the implications of the provisions of the Employment Code (Exemptions) Regulations, Statutory Instrument No. 48 of 2020 (S.I No. 48 of 2020) on both the employers and employees? (c) With relevant examples, discuss the cost-reduction strategies related to a downsizing programme and in line with the Employment Code Number 3 of 2019, explain the procedure (s) you would follow as you implement the redundancy programme and why? And what severance and associated benefits shall be paid to the affected workers once they are declared redundant? (d) In accordance with the Employment Code Number 3 of 2019, discuss in detail the grounds upon which an employment contract can be terminated as well as circumstances under which an employer cannot terminate an employment contract.
