Do you play California Super Lotto Plus? Well, it's only $1 per selection of numbers. Not bad right? But, is it a rip off to keep playing and hope for a win? Let us find out. In the California Super Lotto Plus, you select five numbers from 1 to 47 and in addition select a "Mega Number" from 1 to 27. If the numbers you selected match with the winning numbers, then you win the jackpot. Example of a selection of numbers: Mega 3 5 It does not matter how the numbers are arranged. If numbers 1 - 5 and a Mega of 6 are the winning numbers, then you are automatically a winner not mattering the ordering of the numbers as long as the Mega number is 6. For example: Mega 3 6 Mega 5 6 These 2 will be considered the same combination. If the top one was my selection but the winning numbers were given the order of the bottom one, then I still win the jackpot (#'s 1 & 2): (1) Determine the number of possible combination of numbers along with the power ball are there (2) Now suppose there is a roll of dimes with one special dime somewhere in the roll. As the roll of dimes get bigger, your probability decreases. Given that the average thickness of a dime is 0.053 inches, how long must the roll of dimes be in any units of your preference) for the probability of selecting the special dime to be the same as the probability of winning the Super Lotto Plus?
