Brilliant Solution Inc. is a technology solution company basedin Jakarta, Indonesia. They are a relatively new company with atotal organization size of around 50 personnel performing widevariety of functions such as marketing, product, legal, humanresource, and finance. Currently their biggest manpower isallocated to product team, led by VP of Growth. The growth teamconsists of 10 developers, 5 business analysts, 5 designers, and 5quality assurance staff. Currently they have over 100 of bothnational and international clients. You are one of the newestbusiness analysts, and your tasks are mainly focused on gatheringand analyzing the requirements of your client and proposingassessments on budget and timeline to be evaluated by your directsupervisor.
Right now, Brilliant Solution Inc has just started a projectwith an educational institution. They are looking to create aplatform for doing web-based learning where teachers can uploadlessons or instructions, and students can interact by commenting ordiscussing the lessons. The interaction does not happen in realtime, but rather on demand, like Youtube. The platform will also beresponsible for managing students, lecturers, and staff data. Ontop of that, the web application should also be able to accommodatestudents’ financial processes such as invoicing, course payment, and late payment.1. Create a process decomposition for every process in theapplication. Process decomposition should start with severalgeneral processes, then each process is broken down into clearerand more detailed sub-processes.2. Label each process with the function point domain values (EI,EO, EQ, ILF, EIF) and calculate the Unadjusted Function Point,Value Adjustment Factors, and the Function Point.3. Assuming the average productivity for similar project is 6FP/person-month and cost is 1,760$ per FP, Estimate the price andtimeline for the project based on the calculated function point andhistorical productivity data!
