a) A simple random sample of 50 items from a population with a population mean and population s.d. of 30 and 5. provide a 98% confidence interval for the population mean.
b) A simple random sample of 10 items from a normal population (which implies xbar will follow a normal distribution) as follows:
15, 10, 6, 4, 1, 4, 7, 9, 3, 12 provide a 98% confidence interval for the population mean.
(Hint: don't forget to show your manual work to find the mean and s.d. for credit, and you can use =stdev.s in your stats function, i.e., confidence.norm(alpha, stdev.s(array), size))
