Tetracycline is an antibiotic of the class of aminoglycosides, which are derived from carbohydrates that are biosynthesized by microorganisms of the genus Streptomyces and Micronospora. Its pharmacological activity is marked through the action on the 16S subunit of the bacterial ribosomal complex, inhibiting it, which reflects in the inhibition of the synthesis of proteins essential to the life of these bacteria. However, due to its structural complexity, tetracycline denotes some pharmacokinetic problems. (BARREIRO; FRAGA. 2014; RANG et al., 2015).
a) Calculate value of log P?
b) Justify whether tetracycline would fit the Lipinski rule regarding the lipid solubility of drugs, based on the log P calculation?
