Post by answerhappygod »

The bioreactor system utilizes activated sludge to consumesuspended biomass and reduce the BOD of the water before discharge. The microorganisms present in this type of activated sludge tend tobecome inactive after a mean time of approximately 4.2 hours andmust be removed from the reactor and replaced at that time.
i) What volume of reactor, in L, should be used, assuming thereactor operates at steady state (i.e. Fin = Fout) with a dailyflow of 303 000 USG?
ii) If the reactor is set up as an “extended aeration” type, with an F/M ratio of 0.10, how much activated sludge (in kg) shouldbe present in the reactor?
