Hello!!! Please Help me with this questions that Iam stuck on . Thank you!!!
Question 1: A rock joint surfacewas subject to a shear box test in which the area of the shearsurface was 50 mm by 50 mm. The results of the test are givenbelow. Determine the Coulomb strength criteria values (i.e.,joint’s cohesion and friction angle).
. .
Question 2: A joint has a basicfriction angle of 35°. Field investigations report a scaledroughness coefficient of 6, Schmidt hammertests report a joint wallcompressive strength of 100 MPa, and a reduction factor of 0.4applies to the estimation of scaled joint wall compressivestrength. Determine the Barton shear strength (MPa) of the joint at7,000 kPa normal stress.
