You are working with an endurance runner that is trying to
increase their 10km performance. You complete a series of tests
including VO2max, lactate threshold, and running economy when you
first begin working them and again after they have completed the
last training cycle. After the training cycle, they are able to
complete a 10km race significantly faster. Explain how each of
these assessments may have changed and the physiology behind each
of those changes that may have led to their improved performance (3
points). Additionally, what is the formula for VO2 and what are the
physiological adaptations that occur which can increase VO2
(provide specific changes that occur in the body, makes sure you
address all parts of VO2)?
