ET115 WEEK 5 LAB Fundamental Properties of AC Circuits & Lab - Week 5 Lab Inductive Circuits 1. Watch Week 5 Parallel RL Circuits (1:25) 2 V1 R1 470Ω 2. Construct the circuit with MultiSIM using the Agilent function generator. Set the generator for 3V RMS, 100 Hz. C. IL1 d. IT e. ZT L1 500mH 3. Set the tolerance to 5% for the resistor and the capacitor. The procedure to set the tolerance is below: a. Double click the component, in the tolerance field, click the down arrow and click 5. Click OK. In the upper menu, click SIMULATE. A menu will appear. On the bottom of the menu, click USE TOLERANCE. 4. Calculate the following for 100 Hz and 1KHz (express all answers in phasor form). Make sure you show all your work: a. XL b. IR1 6. Repeat step 5 for 1KHz. 5. Use the Agilent DVM to measure IT, IR1, IL1 at 100 Hz. Take a screenshot of each current. Make sure the DATE/TIME stamp along with the equipment connections and readings are visible.
7. Create 2 tables and record the calculated values and measured values for each frequency. Include a column to include the percent error. The formula to calculate the error is below: % error = Expected Value - Measured Value Expected Value X 100% 8. Discuss the following: a. Describe the relationship between the frequency and IT. b. What effect does frequency have on ZT? c. How could the circuit be modified to bring the phase angle between the source voltage and current closer to 0? d. What conclusions do you have based on the calculations and equipment readings?
