QUESTION 1 (a) Figure Q1(1) shows the bridge inverter simulation circuit using ORCAD software to provide AC voltage across an RLC load. By referring to the Fourier components of transient response for the load current as shown in Figure Q1(ii), evaluate the circuit performance in term of the instantaneous load current expression in Fourier series, THD of the load current and the power absorbed by the load. Then, sketch the waveforms of output voltage and rms output current. [15 marks] (b) You have been asked to redesign the inverter circuit in part (a) to supply high frequency AC signal to the transmitter coil for wireless battery charging applications. The new input voltage increase to 400 V and operates at 1 MHz frequency. The other parameters are remained the same. Modify the existing circuit including the gating sequence so that it can be used for the new applications and determine whether the MOSFET IRF740 can still be used for switching device or not. Justify your answer. [10 marks]
