Joint Venture withHilton Food Group (UK 2015) A joint venture between Hilton andWoolworths saw the establishment of a new meat processing facilityin Laverton that will service 325 stores, creating 500 full timejobs. Innovations at the new facility include: Fully automatedreusable crate washing system Fully automated robotic store orderpick and packing High tech cold storage facility Full testkitchen that can produce value added lines Linpac PackagingAustralia (UK 2015) Woolworths has also aligned itself with Linpacfor its meat packaging. Linpac offers a Modified AtmospherePackaging range that includes fully recyclable rPET trays that willenable Woolworths to improve the presentation, freshness and shelflife of their meat products. New High Tech Distribution Centre (AUS2018) Woolworths has invested $562 million in a new automateddistribution centre, the largest and most technologically advancedin the southern hemisphere. The centre will revolutionise the wayWoolworths delivers goods to stores and generate material in storeefficiencies. The facility uses technologies used in traditionallogistics combined with those from manufacturing and postal systemsto sort and distribute stock faster and more accurately thantraditional warehouse technology. Technologies include: Highspeed conveyors designed by Dutch company Vanderland 50 robotssupplied by ABB Multistory racking systems The ability to pickcartons off the shelf and assemble pallets for specific aisles insupermarkets in optimum order and load pallets onto trucks in theright sequence to meet specific needs of stores. Australia’slargest roof-top solar installation. Woolworths Group isAustralia’s largest supermarket chain, operating 995 stores acrossAustralia. It also has loyalty, petrol, insurance, liquor, varietygoods and hotel offers in Australia and operations in Australia andfood retail operations in NZ. Hilton Food Group is a specialist incentralised portioning, packaging and value-added meat products forlarge supermarket clients servicing Europe and Australia.
