3. Arnold was admitted in your ward a week ago with diabetic
ketoacidosis. Arnold and his wife are diabetic and both were not
paying attention to their health. They did not appropriately use
the insulin pen when you asked them to demonstrate its use during
the initial days of communication with the client and family. They
did not understand the importance of consuming a diabetic diet.
Discuss five (5) possible areas Arnold and his wife must be
aware of or trained in prior to discharging the person from the
hospital for self-management (ongoing management of diabetes) at
home.
