Question 2: Slab [40 marks] Floor plans of RC building are as shown in Figure 2, assume the slab is continuous in all directions. Lx is the shorter side of slab panels. Answer the following questions: "7 Ly n₂ x Ly (a) Ly 1₂ x L₂ & (b) Figure 2: Structural Floor Plans Lx n₂ x L₂ (c) (a) Explain the difference in the slab systems as shown in Figures 2(a), 2(b) and 2(c) [10 marks] (b) With the system shown in Figure 2(c), Lx is 7.0m, Ly is 8.4 m, the slab thickness is 300 mm, superimposed deadload is 1 kPa, and live load is 4 kPa. Use the simplified method as per [6.10.4] of AS3600 to determine the critical design moments of the floor slab. Refer to relevant standards and state any assumptions used. [30 marks]
