Question 2: Combined Stresses and Mohr's Circle (30 Marks) A short and hollow cylindrical bar, having an outer diameter of 100 mm and an inner diameter of 85 mm, is subjected to two simultaneous loads - an axial compressive force of 300 + P/1000 kN and a torsional moment of 2000 + P/1000 KN . mm. You are required to investigate two stress states on the two points, which are in the outer and inner surfaces of the bar, respectively, and provide the following information: (a) Sketch the bar with clearly indicating these two points of interest in it; (b) Determine the stress states for two points on the outer and inner surfaces of the bar, respectively. (c) Draw two Mohr's circle for both two elements.
