Question 2 (20 marks) (a) A separately excited dc generator is shown in Figure 1. The generator is initially running steady-state conditions at V1 = VE = 200 V and nm = 2000 r/min, with a field resistance of 50 2. The rotor of the generator has a moment of inertia of 5 kg.m? Determine the change in kinetic energy of the generator (5 marks) for part (i). iii. Calculate the generator power, P, if the speed of the (4 marks) generator is 2200 r/min.
