CASE STUDY 3: DECIDING A DOG BITE BOY SUIT INVOLVING STR ANALYSIS On Saturday, September 28, a young boy was bitten by a large black dog on the corner of Fifth Avenue. Investigating the situation further, police officers learned that a neighbor has a large black dog that often barks ferociously at people walking down the street. The owner maintained that the dog made a lot of noise but was basically friendly. The officers, however, discovered a substance, which appeared to be blood, on the dog's collar. The owner states that he cut his hand on the dog collar and that the blood is his. The boy's family decides to sue the dog's owner. They wish to be compensated financially and also have the dog destroyed. However, the dog's owner is adamant that his dog never left his fenced yard on the date in question. You're a forensic scientist for a private firm that has been asked to evaluate the case for the civil trial. All samples have been tested and found to be human blood. Interpret the results of the DNA testing as presented in Figures 14 through 16. Summarize your findings in this investigation. Support your statements with evidence from the DNA fingerprints.
