Enthalpy of the Reaction of Magnesium Metal with Hydrochloric acid. 1. Pour mL 50mL of 0.50 M HCI into a calorimeter, stir and record the temperature of the acid. 2. Add about 0.20 g of accurately weighed magnesium to the calorimeter. Stir and record the highest temperature reached by the contents of the calorimeter.
