A bolted bracket connection consists of two 10 mm thick bracket
plates connected to
the flanges of ISWB 350 column. Each plate is connected to a column
flange by twelve
M16 black bolts of grade 4.6 at a pitch of 50 mm with the end and
edge distances are
30 mm and 35 mm respectively as shown in Fig.1. Determine the
maximum value of
service load W acting at an angle 30 with the vertical that
can be supported by the
bracket connection. The distance between the load vertical
component and centre of the
column is 858 mm.
