A tension member made from a C-shape (channel) is to be connected to a thick gusset plate. You may assume the gusset plate is sufficient for all loads (i.e. do NOT check the gusset plate) and that the bolts are A325-X. If you use any tables, you must cite all input values. Determine the following: a. Compute the block shear capacity of the channel. You do not need to compute the gross yielding or net fracture capacities. b. Compute the bolt shear capacity for this connection. BONUS If the bolts are A325-X, single shear bolts, determine the connection capacity based on bolt-bearing related capacities. }" GUSSET PLATE Using AISC Manual 15th editition - o-lo "Bolts O 1 0 |-3--3-3- P 0 0 - 0 13--3--3- C15x33.9 (A36)
