A 40 HP, 460 Volts, 3-phase, code letter G, service factor of
1.0 is planned for operation from a 480 volts, 3-phase electrical
system. The motor has a nameplate full load Ampere Rating of 50
Amperes, and the Table ampere rating for this motor is 52 Amperes.
The motor is rated for continuous duty and the Load is continuous.
Solve the minimum sizes of Branch circuit elements. Refer the
single line diagram for this problem. Show your solution by
determining the following: a. Confirming the full load
capacity of this motor, b. Determining the wire size,
c. Determining the inverse-time breaker rating,
d. Determining the rating of the thermal overloads, e.
Determining the Disconnect switch ampere rating, f. Determining the
controller horsepower rating.
