You have been asked by a company to provide a Navigation
Solution for an an Airfreight Company. They propose to operate from
Southern Chile to Antarctica to supply research scientists. The
Airstrip in Chile is Puerto Willams. The Airstrip in Antarctica is
ice with a clear rocky outcrop approximately 300 m off to the side
of the strip. The ice runways elevation changes by up to 2 metres
following heavy snowfalls but is generally stable. Over the last 15
years the maximum elevation variation has been 0.7 m. Snow
compaction equipment is utilized at the ice runway and the planned
aircraft is ski/wheel equipped.
The flight will operate from Chile to Antarctica and return. You
may install aids as appropriate. Details are outlined below.
