Scenarios d at to e Ms. Potter has been staying at the Cool River Skilled Nursing Center for several months while she recovers from a broken hip. Her recovery is proceeding well, but she has had a problem with urinary incontinence since her injury. Her doctor asks the nurses and nursing assistants on Ms. Potter's unit to assist her with bladder re. training. Below are examples of how three of the NAs help Ms. Potter with retraining. Read each one and state what the NA is doing well and/or what she should do differently. 10. Hannah, a new NA, tries to be very profes- sional about the episodes of incontinence. While she is cleaning the bed, she remains very upbeat and friendly and does not men- tion the incontinence unless Ms. Potter brings it up.
11. Greta senses Ms. Potter's acute embar ment and it makes her nervous. Whenever she has to assist Ms. Potter, she speaks very line and does not make eye contact with her She tries to finish her work as quickly as pos sible to limit Ms. Potter's discomfort 12. Takeisha has been very encouraging and positive with Ms. Potter. She has charted her bathroom schedule. She makes sure to be available to help Ms. Potter around the usual times that she needs to go to the bathroom. Sbe responds to her call light quickly.
