Answer all questions as a reflection on your first
experience
How was your experience performing lifts and transfers? Did you
perform a bath? Did you observe your patients mobility? What was it
like helping a patient transfer or mobilise for the first time?
Tell me what made you feel comfortable and what made you anxious
about moblizing/transferring/bathing? What communication challenge
did you have to overcome? Was the patient willing to trust you?
How did you feel? What were your first impressions when
you were assigned the task? What were you thinking during this
first bath/transfer/walk with this patient?
How did you establish a good rapport/trust? How did your actions
help you create a rapport with your patient? What past experiences
did you draw from to help you demonstrate empathetic listening
skills, establish trust? Was it difficult to convince the resident
that you were there as a staff member and that you were allowed to
help?
Did you come to understand how a past experience, belief, value
or opinion can affect your interactions with patients? Describe how
your personal beliefs etc can impact your care. Did you apply the
theory you learned about this subject.
What lessons have you learned? How will the lessons learned
during this interaction affect your future practice. How will you
implement the lessons learned from the staff or feedback received
into your future practice?
