She appears anxious and her face is flushed. Vital signs are: temperature, 102.6° F, pulse, 118 beats/min, apical; respirations, 32 breaths/min, shallow; and blood pressure, 120/80 mm Hg. A diagnosis of pneumonia is suspected. A sputum specimen, chest x-ray, arterial blood gases, and complete blood count are ordered. 1. What should this patient and her husband be taught about the sputum collection and x-ray? 2. What will likely be heard when the patient's lungs are auscultated? Explain your answer. 3.
