4. Compare your experimental results and provide reasons why your results differ from the calculated an "accepted" values? Explain why you obtained an emission spectrum for hydrogen that only showed distinct lines (wavelength) while you obtained an emission spectrum showing bands of color (all wavelength) when you looked at the emission spectrum from sunlight? Part 2: Observe the other available tubes and sketch what you see. Compare these to the hydrogen spectrum. Element Observations- Sketch Hydrogen no 6. Explain why the other elements vary from the hydrogen spectrum. 7. a) How much energy is released from a hydrogen atom when an electron moves from n=6 to n=2? b) What is the wavelength of the quantum of light released? What color will it be? Helium is named after Helios, the Greek name for the Sun, because evidence for its existence was observe in 1868 by examining the sun's spectrum. Since helium was not found on earth until 1895, how do you suppose observers knew they had found a new element in 1868?
