1) a) A CIE has an unknown compression ratio. A test engineer equipped it with a fast-response pressure sensor to measure the peak pressure inside the cylinder. Using just this pressure measurement, he was able to estimate the compression ratio. Explain the assumption(s) and calculations he made. b) For a SIE, on the other hand, if the compression ratio is unknown, prove that we have to measure both peak pressure and temperature inside the cylinder to estimate the compression ratio. Again, explain the assumption(s) and calculations involved.
