Question 2: Q2A: What is Fatigue? Describe the steps in carrying out the Fatigue test, with a simple figure. (7) Q2B: A square specimen of Magnesium Oxide is loaded using a three-point bend test. Compute the minimum possible thickness of the specimen without fracture, given that the applied load is 5.056 kN, the flexural strength is 0.105 GPa, and the separation between load points is 49.05mm (8) Q2C: A copper specimen creeps at 0.0022 mm/mm/h when a stress of 103.4 Mpa is applied at 612°C. If the creep rate of copper is dependent on self-diffusion, determine the creep rate if the temperature is 790°C. The activation energy for self-diffusion in copper is 205300 J/mol. (10)
