Question 1 (30 points): In 2100, America is in shortage of food commodity because of a 3-year-drought, which turned many agricultural sites in the countries to desert. To deal with this difficult situation, the U.S. government assigned its Former Ministry of Finance Mr. Mint Silver as the director and CEO of GOD Bless America (GBA) company. The duty of this company is to trade rice with the top 3 supplying countries to help the U.S citizens overcome the famine. The GBA budget is 200 Million Dollars. America has 200,000,000 citizens, each of them have to consume 1 kg of rice every day. In the US's government Emergency Inventory, there are 5,000,000 1 tons of rice left. This amount is the only remaining food commodity for the country, and without eating rice for one day, the citizen will die immediately, the same effect as no breath for 5 minutes. Scenario: Mr. Mint's first task is to not let anyone in America die because of famine in the next 90 days. He has to choose the best choice to import rice from: Country Rice could Price per Days of export in tons in shipment volume (tons) USD) Vietnam 20,000,000 40 Thailand 12,000,000 20 20 India 7,000,000 15 30 10 Students' tasks: a) Calculate and provide your choice of import country(ies) and the imported amount (15 points - Only answer that meet the requirement of not letting any citizens in America die because of famine could get full score) b) Explain in your own word why you want Mr. Mint to choose that/those country(ies). Support your argument with the number you have calculated if available. Out of the box ideas are encouraged and may receive higher score. (15 points)
